Centre for Sport and Culture in Cerro de la Horca, Paracuellos de Jarama, Madrid, 1998
Architects: Hermoso & Heimannsfeld Quantity surveyor: José María Areitioaurten Structure: Juan de La Torre Construction company: OBHI S.A.
The building is adjacent to the municipal swimming pool. In order to centralize access to the two installations, the existing pools and the new pavilion, the pelota court (frontón) and the culture centre, a single control point is proposed, creating a spacious entrance hall with the elevator and staircases to connect the two levels. The area of the classrooms and the culture centre are on the street front while the pelota court changing rooms are located on a pronounced slope. The pavilion also has additional space, which can be used as a stage.
